Flexibility Development

This workshop focuses on the development of both flexibility and strength at extreme ranges of motion as well as the preparation of connective tissue for the sake of injury prevention and rehabilitation. We will be covering the core concepts as well as some of the nuances specific to isometric, active, and dynamic stretching. This is NOT just another class that will take you through some stretches. You will learn to understand how your body works and how you can work with your nervous system to strengthen and unlock deeper ranges of motion within your entire body. Becoming flexible and mobile does not take as long as many people have been conditioned to believe. It is a poorly understood topic in the “fitness” world due to the complexity of the connection between the body and nervous system. We are not going to “stretch”, we will work on layers much deeper than this.

Mastering Middle and Front Splits

This workshop will focus on developing the strength and flexibility required for both middle and front splits. By working towards these positions, participants will be strengthening the musculature surrounding the hips and lower body while putting themselves on the path towards full splits. The core concepts specific to isometric, active, and dynamic stretching will be addressed through tested and proven methods learned from years of research, study, practice, and collaboration. Little emphasis will be placed on the mainstream concept of passive stretching. Instead, we will focus on improving proprioception and strength at end ranges while manipulating the autonomic nervous system using the breath. This work will allow us to access ranges which our nervous system may perceive as threatening or dangerous.

Only a basic level of flexibility is required as Rob has proven himself and through his students that exceptional flexibility is attainable for a variety of ages no matter their current mobility levels and training backgrounds.

With careful and diligent application of the work presented in this workshop, students will eventually attain the ability to drop down into full splits cold as well as significantly improving their squat position, active leg extensions, hip mobility, high kicks, and more.

Mastering the Bridge

This workshop will focus on developing a proper full bridge, limbers, and walk-overs. While the bridge is a great feat of flexibility, it’s not the best tool for developing the position. The three main components which may be limiting your bridge (at various degrees) are the shoulders, thoracic spine, and hip flexors. The focus of the work will revolve around mobilizing and strengthening these components through dynamic and active isometric stretching protocols. We will work on thoracic cuing to avoid having backbends aggravate the lower back as well as spinal segmentation drills which will be paired with undulations for increased awareness and mobility. Participants can expect to learn how to program bridge work into their routine as well as my personal take on engaging the parasympathetic nervous system through breath work in order to eliminate that fight or flight response we may feel when moving into backbends.

Joint Mobility

This workshop focuses on mobilizing and strengthening key joints within the body. The integrity of an individual’s joints can dictate performance output, chance of injury, stability, strength, level of comfort in various positions, and proper bio-mechanics. It’s important to learn how to regain, control, and strengthen many of the ranges the body is capable of.

We will be increasing the circulation of synovial fluid throughout the body, improving proprioceptive control, and strengthening connective tissue at various ranges. Participants will learn the importance of loading joints in and out of alignment to prepare for the unpredictability of life and our chosen disciplines. We will also cover the importance of “movement nutrition” and how we should move our bodies more in order to acquire and maintain a healthy body equipped for longevity and freedom of expression.

Handstand Fundamentals

The handstand is one of the best ways to develop and demonstrate a high level of awareness and control of your body. The handstand requires a significant amount of physical preparation, work ethic, and an intelligent, safe approach.

This workshop is for anyone who wants to develop a freestanding handstand. Participants can expect to gain a thorough understanding of the handstand in all of its intricacies.
We will cover alignment, the mechanics of balance, beginner level static positions, techniques to build comfort while inverted, cues, progressions, and my personal joint prep protocol for pain free wrists and shoulders.

This workshop is appropriate for all levels as the exercises taught can be scaled and progression strategies for further practice will be provided

Hand-balancing

This workshop is for individuals who wish to begin exploring the world of hand-balancing and its many possibilities. Participants can expect to learn the steps and progressions towards the following positions: One-arm/two-arm elbow lever, Air Baby, static QDR, and multiple beginner and advanced crow variations.

This seminar is open to all levels and will help the complete beginner as well as the advanced practitioner learn how to load their wrists safely, build comfort on their hands, and generate balance from their finger tips. We will also cover the importance of taking care of our wrists and hands and participants will be lead through my personal joint prep protocol for titanium wrists and fingers.
